Ezekiel 23 Summary

Aholah and Aholibah: Two Harlot Sisters

Through allegory, Ezekiel describes two sisters, Aholah (Samaria) and Aholibah (Jerusalem), who committed whoredoms in Egypt and defiled themselves with idols and foreign lovers. Aholah was delivered into the hand of the Assyrians, who executed judgment upon her, taking her children. Aholibah, seeing this, multiplied her whoredoms with Babylonians and Egyptians. God declares He will raise up her former lovers against her for judgment and cause her lewdness to cease.
