Bible Chapter Summary
Ezra 6 Summary
Darius Approves and Funds the Temple
King Darius searches and finds Cyrus's original decree at Achmetha, which commands that the house of God be rebuilt with strong foundations and the expense paid from the king's house. Darius decrees that the work not be hindered and provides resources from the king's treasury and tax revenues, including young bullocks, rams, lambs, wheat, salt, wine, and oil for the priests. The elders of the Jews prosper through the prophesying of Haggai and Zechariah, finish the house according to the commandments of the God of Israel and the kings Cyrus, Darius, and Artaxerxes, and dedicate it with joy.
