Cain and Abel: The First Murder
Cain kills Abel out of jealousy when his offering is rejected. God asks where Abel is; Cain denies knowledge. Cain is cursed and marked, yet protected. The chapter traces the spread of human culture alongside the spread of violence, ending with men beginning to call on the name of the LORD.
