Haggai 2 Summary

Strength to Build and Future Glory

In the seventh month, Haggai addresses those who remember the old temple's glory, assuring them that though the present structure seems insignificant, the LORD commands them to be strong and work. The LORD promises His presence and covenant faithfulness, declaring that He will shake all nations and bring forth the desire of all nations, filling this house with greater glory than the former. When the people receive the foundation, however, Haggai prophesies through priestly instruction that their uncleanness has caused affliction upon all their labors; yet the LORD promises to bless them from the day the foundation is laid and to take Zerubbabel as His chosen signet.
