Bible Chapter Summary

Isaiah 14 Summary

Israel's Restoration and Babylon's Fall

The LORD will have mercy on Jacob and choose Israel, setting them in their own land, and strangers shall be joined unto them. Israel shall possess their former oppressors as servants. In the day the LORD gives rest from sorrow and bondage, Israel shall take up a proverb against the king of Babylon, marveling how his oppression hath ceased. The whole earth is at rest and breaks forth into singing; the fir trees and cedars rejoice. The spirits of the dead are moved to meet the king, and from their thrones all kings of nations rise to speak unto him in amazement. His splendor is brought down to the grave, the worm covers him, and he is cast out like an abominable branch. The LORD shall break the Assyrian in His land and cut off Babylon's name and remnant; this is His sworn purpose upon all the earth.
