Bible Chapter Summary

Isaiah 17 Summary

Damascus Falls and Israel Looks to God

The burden of Damascus: the city shall be taken away and become a ruinous heap, and Ephraim's fortress shall cease. The glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and his flesh shall wax lean, like a harvest of grain with only gleaning grapes left. In that day, man shall look to his Maker and respect the Holy One of Israel, turning from false altars and idols. The strong cities shall be as a forsaken bough, and there shall be desolation. The nations shall rush like mighty waters, but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off and be chased as chaff before the wind; at evening there is trouble, but before morning, the spoilers are not.
