Bible Chapter Summary

Isaiah 58 Summary

True Fasting and Sabbath Obedience

The prophet must cry aloud and declare to Jacob their transgressions and sins; the people fast and seek the LORD yet exact labor and quarrel while fasting, which the LORD does not accept. The fast He has chosen is to loose the bands of wickedness, free the oppressed, feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and honor the sabbath. Those who do such deeds shall have their light break forth as the morning, and the LORD shall guide them continually, making them like a watered garden and calling them repairers of breaches.
