Bible Chapter Summary

Isaiah 66 Summary

The Temple of God's Presence and Judgment

The Lord declares that heaven is His throne and earth His footstool, and He will look only to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, trembling at His word. The Lord condemns worthless offerings—slaying oxen and sacrificing lambs without true obedience are abominations to Him. He calls the righteous to hear His word and rejoice, for their brethren who hated and cast them out for His name's sake shall be ashamed. Zion shall bring forth children suddenly before travail or pain, and the Lord shall comfort Jerusalem and extend peace to her like a river. When the Lord comes with fire and His chariots in a whirlwind to render His anger, He shall plead with all flesh and gather all nations and tongues to see His glory.
