Bible Chapter Summary

Jeremiah 11 Summary

The Breaking of God's Covenant

The LORD commands Jeremiah to proclaim the covenant made with Israel's fathers, warning that those who disobey are cursed. Despite God's repeated protests through the prophets, Judah and Jerusalem have broken the covenant, turned to idolatry, and made false altars to Baal. God pronounces judgment on them: they will cry out but not be heard, their idols will not save them, and the cities will be destroyed. The men of Anathoth plot against Jeremiah's life, but God promises to punish them.
