Bible Chapter Summary
Jeremiah 24 Summary
The Vision of Two Baskets of Figs
God shows Jeremiah two baskets of figs set before the temple: one containing very good figs and the other very bad figs that cannot be eaten. God explains that the good figs represent the captives from Judah carried to Babylon, whom He will care for and bring back to rebuild and plant them, giving them a heart to know Him. The evil figs represent Zedekiah the king, his princes, and the remnant left in Jerusalem and Egypt, whom God will deliver to be removed into all kingdoms for their hurt, as a reproach and curse, and will send sword, famine, and pestilence until they are consumed.
