Jeremiah 25 Summary

Cup of Wrath and Seventy Years of Servitude

Jeremiah announces that for twenty-three years he has sent prophets warning the people to turn from evil and obey God, but they have not hearkened. God declares He will send Nebuchadrezzar, His servant, to destroy Judah and all surrounding nations, making them desolate and subject to Babylon for seventy years. Jeremiah is given a cup of God's fury to make all nations drink of it, symbolizing their coming judgment. The chapter details the judgment on various nations, promising that after seventy years God will punish Babylon itself and bring the nations' judgment upon them according to their deeds.
