Bible Chapter Summary

Jeremiah 44 Summary

Judgment Against Jews in Egypt

The Lord spoke to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews dwelling in Egypt, reminding them that Jerusalem's desolation came from their wickedness in burning incense to other gods. Though the Lord sent prophets urging them to repent, they persisted in idolatry. Now in Egypt they would face the sword, famine, and pestilence; they would die there and never return to Judah. When the people insisted on worshiping the queen of heaven as they had before, Jeremiah declared that the Lord would consume them in Egypt and make them an execration.
