Bible Chapter Summary
Jeremiah 47 Summary
Judgment Against the Philistines
The Lord spoke to Jeremiah against the Philistines before Pharaoh smote Gaza. Waters would rise from the north as an overflowing flood that would overflow the land, the cities, and the inhabitants would cry out. At the noise of the stamping hoofs of strong horses and rushing chariots, fathers would not look back to their children from feebleness. The Lord would spoil the Philistines and cut off their helpers from Tyrus and Zidon, removing the remnant of Caphtor. The sword of the Lord is commanded against Ashkelon and the sea shore.
