Bible Chapter Summary
Job 5 Summary
Eliphaz: Trouble Comes from Transgression
Eliphaz continues, claiming that wrath destroys the foolish and envy slays the silly, and that he has seen the foolish taking root before suddenly facing ruin. He states that man is born to trouble as sparks fly upward, suggesting trouble stems from transgression. Yet he counsels Job to commit his cause to God, who does great and unsearchable things, bringing rain, humbling the crafty, and saving the poor. Eliphaz concludes that the man whom God corrects is happy, for God wounds and heals; he shall deliver in six troubles and keep Job from destruction.
