Bible Chapter Summary
Job 4 Summary
Eliphaz's Wisdom: Innocent Do Not Perish
Eliphaz begins the friends' discourse, reminding Job that he has previously instructed and strengthened many people. Eliphaz argues that Job's fear and confidence should protect him, and that the innocent do not perish; those who sow iniquity reap it. He describes a night vision in which a spirit declared that mortals cannot be more just than God and that even God's servants and angels are charged with folly. The implication is that Job's suffering must be due to some fault.
