Job 8 Summary

Bildad: God Does Not Pervert Justice

Bildad the Shuhite rebukes Job for speaking as a strong wind does, and asks how long he will continue. Bildad insists that God does not pervert judgment and that if Job's children sinned, God cast them away for their transgression. He urges Job to seek God and make supplication; if Job were pure and upright, God would awake for him and prosper his righteousness. Bildad counsels Job to inquire of the ancients and learn from their tradition, using images of plants to show that the wicked and the hypocrite's hope shall perish, while God will not cast away a perfect man. He promises that God will fill Job's mouth with laughter and his haters with shame.
