Bible Chapter Summary
Job 9 Summary
Job: Man Cannot Contend with Almighty God
Job affirms the truth of what Bildad said but insists that no man can answer God in a thousand matters. God is wise in heart and mighty in strength; He removes mountains, shakes the earth, commands the sun and stars, spreads the heavens, and does great wonders without number. Job confesses he cannot see God as He passes by nor perceive Him, and that God's power is absolute—no one can hinder Him or question His deeds. Job declares that even if he were righteous, he could not answer God but only make supplication to his Judge. He complains that God breaks him with tempest and multiplies his wounds without cause, and that whether he justifies himself or claims perfection, God will prove him perverse. Job laments that the wicked are given the earth and judges' faces are covered, yet sees no good; his days are swifter than a post.
