Bible Chapter Summary
Joel 2 Summary
Warning of the Day of the Lord and Promise of Restoration
The trumpet is blown to warn Zion of the approaching day of the Lord, described as darkness, gloominess, and thick darkness with a great and unprecedented people advancing like an army with the appearance of horses and mighty warriors. The Lord calls the people to repentance through fasting, weeping, and mourning, to rend their hearts rather than garments, trusting in God's grace and mercy. Upon repentance, the Lord promises deliverance, removal of the northern army, restoration of crops and abundance, and the outpouring of His Spirit upon all flesh with signs in heaven and earth, declaring that whosoever calls upon the Lord's name shall be delivered.
