Bible Chapter Summary
John 15 Summary
The Vine and Its Branches
Jesus instructs that He is the true vine and His Father the husbandman, removing every branch that bears no fruit and purging those that do bear fruit. The disciples are clean through His word; they must abide in Him as branches in a vine, for without Him they can do nothing. Those who abide in Him bring forth much fruit, but whoever abides not in Him is cast forth and burned. Jesus teaches that if they abide in Him and His words abide in them, their prayers shall be answered and His Father glorified. He commands them to love one another as He has loved them, showing greater love than laying down one's life for one's friends, and calls them His friends, having made known to them all things heard from the Father.
