John 5 Summary

Healing at the Pool of Bethesda

Jesus heals a man who had been infirm for thirty-eight years at the pool of Bethesda in Jerusalem during a Jewish feast. Though it is the Sabbath, Jesus tells the healed man to take up his bed and walk, which provokes the Jews to persecute him. Jesus teaches that as the Father works, so does the Son, claiming equality with God, and explains that the Son has authority to execute judgment and can raise the dead just as the Father does.
