Bible Chapter Summary
John 9 Summary
Healing the Man Born Blind
Jesus encounters a man who was blind from birth and, contrary to the disciples' assumption that sin caused his blindness, heals him by making clay and sending him to wash in the pool of Siloam. The Pharisees question the healed man because the healing occurred on the Sabbath, dividing them on whether Jesus can be from God while breaking the Sabbath. The parents of the formerly blind man refuse to defend their son out of fear of excommunication, and when Jesus returns to find the healed man, he questions him about belief in the Son of God.
