Bible Chapter Summary
Judges 5 Summary
The Song of Deborah and Barak
Deborah and Barak sing a victory hymn celebrating the LORD's triumph over Sisera. The song tells how God came from Seir making the earth tremble, laments the tribes that failed to help while praising Zebulun and Naphtali who risked their lives, and recounts how the stars in their courses and the river Kishon fought against the enemy. It blesses Jael for slaying Sisera and pictures Sisera's mother waiting in vain at her window for her son's return. It closes praying that God's enemies perish and his friends shine like the sun, and the land had rest forty years.
