Bible Chapter Summary
Lamentations 4 Summary
The Horror of Zion's Siege and Fall
The gold has become dim and fine gold changed; sanctuary stones are poured out in the streets, and precious sons of Zion are esteemed as earthen pitchers. The daughter of the people has become cruel; sucking children's tongues cleave to their mouths for thirst, and young children ask bread with none to break it to them. Those who fed delicately are desolate; the punishment exceeds that of Sodom, and the hands of pitiful women have sodden their own children for meat during destruction. The Lord accomplished His fury, kindled fire in Zion, and devoured her foundations; prophets and priests shed the blood of the just, and the anointed of the Lord was taken in pits.
