Bible Chapter Summary

Luke 7 Summary

Healing and John's question about Jesus

In Capernaum, a centurion's servant is healed remotely by Jesus's word, and Jesus marvels at the centurion's faith. In the city of Nain, Jesus raises a widow's only dead son, causing fear and the proclamation that a great prophet has arisen. John the Baptist, hearing of Jesus's deeds, sends disciples to ask if he is the one to come or if they should expect another. Jesus answers by directing John's disciples to report what they have witnessed: the blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the gospel is preached to the poor. He then praises John as greater than any born of women. A sinful woman anoints Jesus's feet at a Pharisee's house, and he forgives her sins, teaching a parable about debts forgiven.
