Bible Chapter Summary
Malachi 1 Summary
God's Love and the Priests' Contempt
The Lord declares His love for Israel through Jacob over Esau, promising that Edom's attempts to rebuild will be destroyed. God rebukes the priests for despising His name by offering polluted bread and defective sacrifices upon the altar, asking why they would not offer their best to their governor. Despite the priests' profaning of His worship, the Lord proclaims that His name shall be great among the Gentiles, and a pure offering will be presented everywhere; the priests are cursed for offering corrupt sacrifices when they vow to the Lord.
