Matthew 1 Summary

The Genealogy and Birth of Jesus Messiah

Matthew opens with a genealogy proving Jesus is the son of David, son of Abraham. Fourteen generations from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to exile, fourteen from exile to Christ. Joseph, a righteous man, receives the angelic announcement: Mary conceived by the Holy Spirit. The child will be called Immanuel, God with us.
