Bible Chapter Summary
Matthew 13 Summary
Parables of the Kingdom of Heaven
Jesus teaches the crowds from a ship by the sea, speaking many things in parables. He describes the parable of the sower, explaining that some seed falls by the wayside and is devoured, some on stony ground and withers, some among thorns and is choked, but some falls into good ground and brings forth fruit. Jesus also teaches the parables of the tares, the mustard seed, and the leaven, each revealing mysteries of the kingdom of heaven. He explains that he speaks in parables so that they seeing do not perceive and hearing do not understand.
