Nehemiah 12 Summary
The Dedication of Jerusalem's Wall
The chapter recounts the priests and Levites who returned with Zerubbabel and records their succession through generations to the time of Nehemiah. It describes the dedication ceremony of the wall, wherein Nehemiah gathered the Levites from throughout Judah and appointed two great choirs to give thanks, processing upon the wall with music and instruments, offering great sacrifices and rejoicing. The people appointed overseers for the chambers and treasures, and established the portions due to singers and porters according to the commandment of David.
