Bible Chapter Summary
Nehemiah 11 Summary
Population of Jerusalem and the Provinces
The rulers of Jerusalem dwell in the city, and the people cast lots to determine who else would inhabit it: one of every ten was chosen to live in Jerusalem with the other nine in their cities. The descendants of Judah and Benjamin, including priests, Levites, and temple servants, are named and numbered. The chapter lists those dwelling in Jerusalem—four hundred sixty-eight sons of Perez, nine hundred twenty-eight sons of Benjamin, and various priests and Levites—as well as those in other cities of Judah and the villages where they dwelt.
