Bible Chapter Summary
Philippians 1 Summary
Paul's Joy and Prayer for the Philippians
Paul writes to the church at Philippi with thanksgiving for their fellowship in the gospel from the beginning, confident that God will complete the good work begun in them. He prays that their love would abound more and more in knowledge and discernment, filling them with the fruits of righteousness. Though Paul is imprisoned, he rejoices that his bonds have advanced the gospel, and whether from envy or sincerity, Christ is being preached. Paul's great desire is that he might not be ashamed but glorify Christ in his body through life or death, for to him to live is Christ and to die is gain.
