Bible Chapter Summary
Proverbs 6 Summary
Surety, Sloth, and Seven Abominations
The father warns against being surety for a stranger, urging immediate humility and action to escape the snare, then teaches that diligence is superior to sloth through the example of the industrious ant who gathers food without a guide. The LORD hates seven things: a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wickedness, feet swift to mischief, a false witness, and one who sows discord among brethren. The father closes by binding his commandment and his mother's law upon the son's heart as a lamp and light to keep him from the evil woman and the adulteress.
