Bible Chapter Summary
Proverbs 5 Summary
The Strange Woman Leads to Death
The father warns his son to attend to wisdom and understanding so he may keep knowledge and regard discretion, for the strange woman's flattering words are deceptive but her end is bitter as wormwood and as sharp as a sword. Her feet go down to death and her ways are moveable and unknowable; the son is commanded to keep far from her house lest he give his honor and years to strangers. The father illustrates that the LORD sees all the ways of man and that sinners are held captive by their own iniquities.
