Bible Chapter Summary
Psalms 147 Summary
God's Care for Creation and Zion
The psalmist invites praise of the Lord for building up Jerusalem and gathering the scattered outcasts of Israel, for healing the brokenhearted and binding their wounds. He celebrates God's knowledge of the countless stars and infinite understanding, and proclaims that the Lord lifts up the meek while casting down the wicked. The passage describes God's care over all creation—controlling weather, providing food for beasts and birds—and shows how the Lord strengthens Jerusalem's gates, blesses her children, and brings peace and abundance to the land.
