Bible Chapter Summary
Psalms 60 Summary
God Scattered Us, Yet Grant Us Victory
The psalmist laments that God has cast off His people, scattered them, and shown displeasure, calling on God to turn Himself to them again. The earth trembles and breaks; God has shown His people hard things and made them drink wine of astonishment. Yet God has given a banner to those who fear Him, displayed because of His truth. The psalmist prays for the beloved to be delivered and saved by God's right hand. God speaks in holiness, dividing the land—Shechem, the valley of Succoth, Gilead, Manasseh, Ephraim, Judah, Moab, and Edom being His to dispose. The psalmist questions who will bring him into Edom and asks God to help them from trouble, for the help of man is vain. Through God, they shall do valiantly, for He shall tread down their enemies.
