Bible Chapter Summary
Psalms 77 Summary
Remembering God's Wonders in Distress
In his trouble, the psalmist cried to God with his voice and received His ear; though his soul refused comfort and he was overwhelmed, he sought remembrance of God's works of old and His wonders. He questioned whether God would cast off forever or be favorable no more, whether His mercy had failed and His promise was gone, but then resolved to remember the years of God's right hand and the mighty works He wrought. The psalm climaxes with the exodus narrative: God led Israel like a flock through the divided sea and wilderness, His way being in the sanctuary, redemption accomplished through His arm, and thunder and lightning accompanying His works.
