Psalm 85 Summary
God's Mercy Restored; Peace and Righteousness
The psalmist recalls how God favored Jacob's land, brought back captivity, forgave iniquity, and covered sin. God withdrew His wrath and turned from His fierce anger. The psalmist petitions God to revive His people so they may rejoice, asking God to show mercy and grant salvation. God promises to speak peace to His people and saints, and His salvation nears those who fear Him. Mercy and truth meet together, righteousness and peace kiss each other, truth springs from earth, and righteousness looks down from heaven, ensuring the land yields increase.
