What Does “Blood” Mean in the Bible?
In the King James Bible, “Blood” means “bodily fluid” in modern English. It is an archaic word from the 1611 KJV that has dropped out of everyday use.
What Was Lost
The life-equation. 'The life of the flesh is in the blood' was not biology but theology: blood = life. Every blood sacrifice was a life given. Every covenant sealed in blood was sealed in life itself. When Jesus said 'this is my blood,' He meant 'this is my life, poured out.' The red liquid was a theological substance, not just a medical one.
