Bible Chapter Summary

1 Chronicles 15 Summary

The Ark Brought to Jerusalem with Celebration

David prepares a place in Jerusalem and a tent for the ark, and commands that only Levites may carry it, for the Lord chose them to bear the ark and minister to him forever. David gathers Israel to bring the ark to Jerusalem, and assembles the Levitical chiefs and priests, instructing them to sanctify themselves. The Levites bear the ark on their shoulders with staves as Moses commanded, while appointed singers—Heman, Asaph, and Ethan—make music with instruments. David dances joyfully before the ark in a linen ephod as all Israel brings it up with shouts and music, though Michal despises him for his display.
