Exodus 35 Summary

Sabbath, Offerings, and Skilled Craftsmen Called

Moses assembles the entire congregation of Israel and reiterates the LORD's command to observe the Sabbath strictly, prohibiting all work — including kindling fire — on the seventh day, under penalty of death. He then calls for a freewill offering of materials needed to construct the tabernacle and its furnishings, inviting all who are skilled and willing-hearted to contribute their labor. The people respond with remarkable generosity, both men and women bringing gold jewelry, colored threads, fine linens, animal skins, wood, oils, spices, and precious stones, with many women spinning yarn by hand. Moses concludes by announcing that the LORD has specifically called and filled Bezaleel son of Uri and Aholiab son of Ahisamach with the Spirit of God, granting them wisdom, understanding, and skill in all manner of craftsmanship needed for the tabernacle's construction.
