Bible Chapter Summary

Ezekiel 12 Summary

The Prophet's Sign of Captivity

God commands Ezekiel to prepare belongings and perform a sign before the rebellious house of Israel by moving them in the people's sight, digging through a wall, and bearing them on his shoulders at twilight. The action signifies the coming captivity of the prince and all Israel who will remove from their place and be taken to Babylon. God also instructs Ezekiel to eat and drink with trembling, symbolizing the desolation that comes upon the land. God addresses the false proverb that visions are for many days distant, declaring that His word will be fulfilled in their days without further delay.
