Bible Chapter Summary

Ezekiel 3 Summary

Eating the Roll and Receiving the Charge

Ezekiel eats the roll, and though it is sweet as honey in his mouth, its message is one of lamentation and judgment. God sends him to the house of Israel despite their stubbornness and impudence, hardening Ezekiel's face and forehead against theirs. Ezekiel becomes a watchman unto the house of Israel, responsible to warn the wicked of death and the righteous of sin, lest their blood be required at his hand. The spirit lifts Ezekiel to Tel-abib where he sits astonished among the captives for seven days before receiving his watchman's charge.
