Bible Chapter Summary
Hebrews 9 Summary
The Earthly Sanctuary and Christ's Perfect Sacrifice
The first covenant had ordinances of divine service and a worldly sanctuary with two parts: the sanctuary with its furnishings, and the Holiest of all entered only by the high priest once yearly with blood offered for himself and the people's errors. These earthly patterns signified that the way into the holy place was not yet manifest while the first tabernacle stood. But Christ, come as a high priest of good things, entered the true tabernacle not made with hands by his own blood, obtaining eternal redemption once for all. His blood purges the conscience from dead works more effectually than the blood of bulls and goats, and as mediator of the new testament, his death redeemed transgressions under the old covenant.
