Bible Chapter Summary

Isaiah 42 Summary

The Servant of the Lord

The Lord presents His servant whom He upholds, in whom His soul delights, upon whom He has put His spirit. The servant will bring forth judgment to the Gentiles not with loud crying but gently, never breaking a bruised reed or quenching smoking flax. He will bring forth judgment unto truth and shall not fail until He has set judgment in the earth. God calls the servant in righteousness to hold his hand, keep him, and give him as a covenant of the people and a light to the Gentiles, opening blind eyes and bringing prisoners out of darkness. The Lord promises new things and calls all creation to sing unto Him.
