Bible Chapter Summary
Isaiah 51 Summary
The LORD's Salvation Endures Forever
The prophet calls the righteous to remember their origin in Abraham and Sarah, and promises that the LORD will comfort Zion and transform her wilderness into Eden. Though the heavens will vanish like smoke and the earth grow old like a garment, the LORD's righteousness and salvation will endure forever. The redeemed shall return to Zion singing everlasting joy, and the prophet exhorts the afflicted Jerusalem—who has drunk the cup of God's fury—that the LORD will take that cup from her hand and give it instead to those who afflicted her.
