Bible Chapter Summary
Isaiah 61 Summary
The Spirit's Anointing for Good Tidings
The prophet declares that the Spirit of the Lord is upon him, anointing him to preach good news to the meek, bind up the brokenhearted, and proclaim liberty to captives. The people shall rebuild desolate places, and Gentiles shall serve them as shepherds and laborers. The Lord will make an everlasting covenant with them, and their righteousness and praise shall spring forth before all nations, with the Lord clothing them in garments of salvation and robes of righteousness.
