Bible Chapter Summary

Isaiah 63 Summary

The Day of Vengeance and Redemption

The Lord comes from Edom with dyed garments, glorious in apparel, declaring His righteousness and might to save. He treads the winepress alone in His anger and fury, staining His garments with the blood of those He tramples, for the day of vengeance is in His heart and the year of His redeemed has come. The prophet then reminds Israel of the Lord's lovingkindnesses and mercies in bearing them through affliction and delivering them from the sea, though they later rebelled and vexed His holy Spirit. The people lament that the Lord seems to have turned against them and made them err from His ways.
