Bible Chapter Summary

Isaiah 64 Summary

A Prayer for God's Intervention

The people cry out that God would rend the heavens and come down, making His name known to adversaries so that nations tremble. They confess that since the beginning of the world no eye has seen what God has prepared for those who wait upon Him, yet God meets those who work righteousness and remember Him in His ways. The people acknowledge their sin, declaring themselves unclean with righteousnesses like filthy rags, consumed by iniquities, with none calling upon His name. They plead that the Lord is their Father and Potter, asking that He not hold iniquity against them forever, for Zion is a wilderness and Jerusalem a desolation.
