Bible Chapter Summary

Jeremiah 2 Summary

Israel's Unfaithfulness to the Lord

The Lord sends Jeremiah to cry out against Jerusalem, reminding them of their youth when they followed Him faithfully in the wilderness. Israel was holy to the Lord, but they have defiled His land with their abominations and forsaken the fountain of living waters for broken cisterns. The priests, pastors, and prophets have all transgressed, serving Baal instead of the Lord. Though the Lord threatens to contend with them and their children's children, Israel has become shameless, following strangers and worshipping idols despite their wickedness being marked before God.
