Bible Chapter Summary
Malachi 3 Summary
The Messenger and the Refiner's Fire
The Lord promises to send His messenger to prepare the way, and the Lord whom Israel seeks shall suddenly come to His temple as the messenger of the covenant. Yet His coming will be like a refiner's fire and fuller's soap, purifying the sons of Levi as gold and silver, that they may offer offerings in righteousness. God will judge swiftly against sorcerers, adulterers, false swearers, and those who oppress the hireling, widow, and fatherless; though Israel has robbed God in tithes and offerings, they are called to bring the full tithe into the storehouse and test the Lord's promise to open the windows of heaven.
