Bible Chapter Summary

Matthew 10 Summary

The Twelve Apostles Empowered and Sent Forth

Jesus calls and names his twelve apostles, giving them power against unclean spirits and to heal all manner of sickness. He commands them to go to the lost sheep of Israel, not to the Gentiles or Samaritans, preaching that the kingdom of heaven is at hand and healing the sick and raising the dead. Jesus instructs them to provide nothing for their journey, to seek worthy houses, and warns of persecution, yet promises that the Holy Spirit shall speak through them and that whoever endures to the end shall be saved.
